Scarlet Hope + The Love of Order

Updated: Dec 3

When I made the first call to Scarlet Hope to ask about dropping off client closet donations, I had no idea how much I would come to love this ministry and the women they serve.

The short answer to my donation question was...well, maybe but it depends on what you have to donate and what we already have in the closet. Before the end of that conversation I was being prayerfully asked to consider helping with an upcoming event at the Scarlet Hope Resource Center.

I knew from the first day of this baby business that our main mission would be to love well, serve well, and give all the glory to God for any and all success I would have. So when I visited the facility and learned more about how Scarlet Hope loves women in the adult entertainment industry and in the sex trafficking trap, I knew this was where I was meant to be.

So I began the process of cleaning and clearing out the closet and preparing for Glamour Night, where women from the surrounding community and women the volunteers have met in the clubs, are invited to an evening of pampering and dining and blessings with hair services, makeup services, and of course shopping in the closet.

So, we got the closet in shape, praying over the women who would come to the event, over the next 2 months. The hours leading up to the doors opening was a combination of panic, joy, excitement, and anticipation. And we were not disappointed!

The joy and excitement that the women experienced was contagious and I was buzzing all night long! With the help of the many volunteers involved, we have been able to give these special guests a moment to be truly cared for and showered with intention and appreciation for the last 2 years. Every year gets better and better so we know that God is deeply invested in this work.

Now the closet - and the Resource Center - is moving to the Hope House in the Clifton neighborhood where they will continue to offer items from the closet on a weekly basis along with prayer, support, and encouragement.

We've already begun the process of cleaning out and packing up the original closet and it's all ready to be moved in to the Hope House.
